United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to come to Slovenia on official visit
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be on official visit to Slovenia on Friday, 20 July 2012. He will arrive in our country in the evening of Thursday, 19 July 2012. This will be the second visit of a UN Secretary-General to Slovenia, coinciding this time with the twentieth anniversary of Slovenia's membership in the UN.
During the official part of the visit, starting on Friday, the distinguished guest and his hosts will discuss the past role of Slovenia within the United Nations and the platform for its future activities. Other topics discussed will be the situation in the Western Balkans and in Syria and other crisis areas in the world. They will also touch upon security, political, environmental and development issues which are presently in the focus of attention of the international community.
Mr. Ban will meet with President Danilo Türk, Prime Minister Janez Janša, and Gregor Virant, President of the National Assembly.
A special programme will be prepared for Madam Yoo (Ban) Soon-taek, the spouse of Ban Ki-moon, which will be hosted by Mrs Urška Bačovnik Janša, the spouse of the Slovenian Prime Minister.
