Prime Minister Janez Janša on a working visit to Ireland

On Wednesday, 12 September 2012, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, is to pay a working visit to Ireland where he will meet with the Prime Minister of Ireland, Enda Kenny. The meeting will focus on the exchange of opinions and views on combating the financial and economic crisis, including the measures for the stabilisation of the euro; a particular stress will be placed on Ireland's experience with the banking sector restructuring measures. The talks are expected to include other current issues presently faced by the European Union and the international community.

The first visit of a Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia to Ireland in ten years constitutes the confirmation of friendly relations and the continuation of political dialogue between two EU Member States with a single European currency. The last visit of the then Prime Minister of Ireland, Bertie Ahern, to the Republic of Slovenia took place in February 2008, at the time of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency.
