Before leaving for the ASEM Summit in Laos, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, today discussed some foreign policy, global and regional issues by telephone with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The items discussed also included the bilateral cooperation between Slovenia and the United States in the light of the joint activities within the North-Atlantic Alliance and other international organisations.

During the lengthy discussion, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed her explicit support for the Slovenian Government's reform efforts and wished the Slovenian Prime Minister best luck and courage in the pursuit of reforms.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the whole Slovenian nation, Prime Minister Janša conveyed sincere condolences and regrets to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the deaths and devastation caused by hurricane Sandy.
