Prime Minister Janez Janša begins the Government’s visit to the Koroška region

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, began the fourth Government’s visit of his term of office to the Koroška region by attending the inauguration of an extension to Slovenj Gradec General Hospital this afternoon. At its first session, the Government had adopted a decision to visit one of the regions once a month and to hold a thematic session when appropriate.
 
Today's inauguration of the extension to Slovenj Gradec General Hospital, which also includes an outpatient clinic with day-hospital, dermatology and microbiology, medical departments for gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics, a central surgery ward with surgery theatres, intensive therapy centre, obstetrics ward, medical department for urology, pathology department with laboratories and autopsy hall, dialysis, pharmacy and central sterilization unit, constitutes an important acquisition for both the medical staff and inhabitants of Koroška. This obtainment will also contribute to improved quality of medical services provided to patients and to better accessibility of these services in the Koroška and Savinjsko-Šaleška regions. There are further investments in the facility planned. Prime Minister Janez Janša attended the inauguration together with Minister of Health Tomaž Gantar, who delivered an address on this occasion, stressing that Slovenj Gradec General Hospital has, through the implementation of its projects, successfully pursued the goals of healthcare development in Slovenia. These goals include enhanced performance, improved quality of medical services and also increased satisfaction of users and providers of medical services. 

 

The Slovenian Prime Minister also discussed the subject matter of today’s visit with the local media. In the interview for the Regional Television of Velenje (VTV), Prime Minister Janša touched upon the proposed changes of the pension and labour market reforms and other short-term and long-term measures and strategies. He pointed out that regarding the third development axis, the siting of the new road is currently in progress. He also discussed the situation in the Koroška region and development opportunities that will be further strengthened by the measures aimed at promoting the economy within the third package adopted by the Government last week.

 

The main part of the Government's visit to the region will take place tomorrow when the ministerial team will gather in a morning working session. The ministers will analyse development challenges and opportunities of the region. The Prime Minister and his ministers will spend the rest of the day mostly meeting with the representatives of companies, administrative units, municipalities, craft industry and judicial, school and other institutions in the region.
