The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, and the Minister of Finance, Janez Šušteršič, met today with the State Secretary to Minister of Finance of the Swedish Government, Hans Lindberg, who is on a working visit to Slovenia. The main purpose of his visit is to present to Slovenia the Swedish experience in implementing structural reforms.

Over the past 20 years, Sweden has adopted numerous reforms that helped the country overcome the current crisis more easily.  With the exception of 2009, Sweden has recorded a high economic growth rate, a low unemployment rate and a budgetary surplus in recent years.

Prime Minister Janez Janša acquainted State Secretary Lindberg with Slovenia’s ambitious plan of reforms and measures to be adopted by the end of the year.  The package includes the pension reform, the labour market reform and several measures aimed at stabilising the public finances and the banking system and transforming corporate management. Prime Minister Janša, Minister Šušteršič and State Secretary Lindberg agreed on the need to adopt further reforms in Sweden as well as in Slovenia where this process has only just started.
