Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, receives Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Alexey Miller: "Investment in the South Stream gas pipeline is of major importance for Slovenia"

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, today received the Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Alexey Miller. The discussion was focused on the implementation of the South Stream gas pipeline project in Slovenia. The partners in dialogue exchanged their information on the project implementation progress in both Slovenia and Europe. The Prime Minister highlighted that this project remains a priority for Slovenia despite a change in the government and that both Slovenia and Russian Federation, as well as the wider region, are greatly interested in bringing it to completion. 

 

The Prime Minister also asked the Chairman to keep her informed on the progress in the implementation of the entire project. Prime Minister Bratušek stressed that good relations with foreign investors are of key importance for a sound development of the Slovenian economy, where the South Stream gas pipeline is a vital project for Slovenia since it is a 1.1 billion worth investment. As is generally known, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Russian Federation on co-operation in construction and operation of the gas pipeline on the territory of the Republic of Slovenia was signed in November 2009.
