The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, this morning attended the Fifth Congress of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of Slovenia, which was held at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. As a speaker of honour, Prime Minister Bratušek stressed that such events are extremely valuable, since "they provide opportunity to share knowledge and experience, look at your work from new perspectives and expand the horizons". Addressing the congress participants, she said that the science can develop successfully only when individual experiences come together, combine and produce new experiences. She was therefore convinced that the congress would score fruitful results in the field of reproductive and neonatal medicine.

Prime Minister Bratušek expressed satisfaction that the latest data from the European report on the gynaecology and obstetrics were optimistic for Slovenia and proved that this branch of Slovenian medicine today enjoys an excellent reputation in the international arena.  "Reproductive medicine has for decades been one of the most internationally recognisable branches of the Slovenian medicine protecting women’s reproductive health. The recently adopted Slovenian development strategy with comprehensive framework for gynaecology and obstetrics imposes on the state an obligation to provide conditions for an easy access to free reproductive health care services for all women, while the providers of these services must pay special attention to women who are socially at risk," she said. At the close of her address, the Slovenian Prime Minister touched upon the measures adopted by the Government and the present crisis that, in her words, we will overcome and "find safe shelter in the arms of healthy and responsible future generation. We will provide conditions for all those whom you today – with such a devotion, responsibility and all necessary competence and skills – help see the light of the day, thus enabling them to make a better tomorrow in new circumstances".
