Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek at the opening of Krško hydroelectric power plant: "Today's opening proves that added value can be created also in times of economic crisis"

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, is today on her visit to Krško. On the occasion of her visit, the Prime Minister attended the opening of Krško hydroelectric power plant, where as a speaker of honour she stressed that today's achievement represents an outstanding step for the Slovenian energy sector: "In the Republic of Slovenia, we have to strive for a reliable, sustainable and competitive energy supply, which includes a reliable and quality electricity supply.   

 

In her speech, the Prime Minister went on to say that any energy strategy should be based on fulfilling EU climate and energy legislation requirements regarding reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, bringing down final energy consumption and increasing the share of renewable sources in the overall  use of energy: "I would like to emphasize that only careful planning and attentive construction can guarantee that power produced by hydroelectrical power plants is produced in a sustainable and renewable way; at the same time, we have to see to it that our rivers are kept clean, including our consciousness. For, we are constructing infrastructure for the generations to come," added the Prime Minister. Today's opening is an important milestone for Krško, Posavje region and entire Slovenia, as well as for the inhabitants of Krško and its surroundings; this is even more so because it includes the new municipal traffic infrastructure arrangement.   

 

 

At the end of her address, the Prime Minister congratulated all those who participated in these infrastructural achievements and said that their work "constitutes a proof that through good ideas, careful planning and professional implementation, obstacles can be eliminated and added value created also in times of economic crisis. In the afternoon part of her visit to Krško, the Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek is to meet the Mayor of Krško Municipality, Miran Stanko, and to attend the gala ceremony given on the occasion of Krško municipal holiday.
