Within today's visit of the Government to Podravje region, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, met with the mayor of the Municipality of Ptuj, Štefan Čelan, before the beginning of the consultation of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. Ms Bratušek and Mr Čelan focused on the problems encountered by the Municipality of Ptuj and the broader region of Podravje, and the Prime Minister outlined the measures that had been prepared by the Government and will be presented in detail on today's visit. The visit continued by the working consultation session of the Government at Ptuj Castle. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, opened the consultation by presenting the measures taken by the Government at its 14th regular session and aimed at helping the region, and stressed that the Government had responded promptly and that all measures adopted concern the aid to the economy, as appropriate. The consultation continued by individual ministers presenting the measures that concern their line ministries and that would be detailed at the press conference in the afternoon.

After the end of the consultation, Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek and State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Monika Kirbiš Rojs, visited a Ptuj undertaking Tehcenter d.o.o., where they attended the manufacture of high quality metal products and concluded the visit by meeting the management. During her visit, the Prime Minister paid particular attention to the constant care of the undertaking for its employees, their personal development and promotion of their innovation, which is of extreme importance especially during the economic crisis. The Prime Minister stressed that too little attention is devoted to those undertakings that are successful and sound, and to the care for the education of appropriate staff.

The Prime Minister will continue her visit by holding a press conference, where she will present the measures aimed at helping Maribor and the broader Podravje region together with the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Stanko Stepišnik, the Minister of the Interior and Public Administration, Gregor Virant, and the Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Anja Kopač Mrak. After the meeting with Andrej Fištravec, the mayor of Maribor, the Prime Minister and ministers will attend a ceremony commemorating the Statehood Day and the opening of the Lent Festival, where the Prime Minister will take part as a speaker of honour.
