The Prime Minister after meeting with the young people in Nova Gorica: "The solution for the prevention of brain drain are new jobs"

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, today paid a visit to the Nova Gorica Municipality. During the visit, she met with the representatives of the young from the Goriška region and attended the programme presentation of the Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EZTS), established by the municipalities of Nova Gorica, Šempeter - Vrtojba and Gorica. The Prime Minister thanked the young people participating in the meeting for their proposals, initiatives and willingness to cooperate. She emphasised that the Government is aware of how pressing the problem of youth unemployment is. The Prime Minister expressed her belief that the solution for the prevention of brain drain are new jobs and pointed out that the educational system should be adapted to better serve the needs of the economy. She highlighted that countries like Austria have a very low unemployment rate of youth also due to their educational system.

 

In her statement to the media, the Prime Minister added that the Government is preparing additional measures for banking system consolidation and for giving the economy a new impetus. These measures include the plans to fight the grey economy which were presented a few days ago, and a controlled liquidation of two banks. At the close of her visit, the Prime Minister again thanked the Mayor of Nova Gorica and the young people who took part in the discussion for their hospitality and the proposals given.
