The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, today attended the trilateral meeting of prime ministers of Slovenia, Italy and Croatia in Venice. Talks were particularly focused on infrastructure and energy issues and, at the initiative of the Slovenian Prime Minister, an agreement was reached to establish a working group for infrastructure projects in Northern Adriatic.

The task of the working group will be to coordinate all infrastructure and energy projects in the region, with special emphasis on environmental protection and ecological issues. The prime ministers also discussed the strengthening of cooperation within the European Union, particularly in the framework of the preparations for the next European Council meeting. They committed themselves to joining efforts to strengthen regional cooperation, with special emphasis on the Adriatic-Ionian Macro Region.

On this occasion, the prime ministers of the three countries also agreed to deepen their cooperation in providing assistance to the Western Balkan countries in their endeavours to join the European Union and agreed that the next trilateral meeting, to be hosted by the Slovenian Prime Minister, should be held next spring.
