Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek sent a letter of congratulations to the Slovenian basketball team at the end of European Basketball Championships expressing her praise for the team which proved with seven victories that it is capable of beating even the best competitors and win its place among the world's elite. In her letter she said, among other things, that in September, when Eurobasket managed to bring visiting countries together in many fields, Slovenian basketball players brought something unique into the life of Slovenia. They created a sense of connection among us and awakened our awareness that we belong to one country. "Your eagerness and excellent performance fills us all with pride." Ms Bratušek also said that every one of us who feared and cheered for them felt joy and pride at their victories, and wished them to stay on this victorious path and also prevail at the World Championships. "For me, as the Prime Minister and honorary patroness of Eurobasket, you are the triumphant team of the European Championships this year, not only because of your eagerness and fighting spirit but also because of the mission you performed this month," added Ms Bratušek.
