"We will go after those who cannot explain the origin of their property," said Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek at the press conference following the Government's session in relation to the amendment of the Tax Procedure Act concerning the assessment of tax on undeclared income. The amendment provides for a much higher tax rate, i.e. 70%. "The state will take what belongs to it from any person who cannot explain how they have acquired the money, while any proceedings related to criminal liability will be conducted separately," she clarified and added that this is an important step in the fight against the grey economy. Ms Bratušek explained today's withdrawal of the Health Care and Health Insurance Act, which was done on the proposal of the Minister of Health. It was agreed that any open issues will be coordinated in the following week, so that the harmonised act will probably be discussed and adopted at the next session of the Government.

Ms Bratušek also briefly explained the achievements and measures of the Government in the first six months of its work for improving the bad situation in the country. "The first step was immediate stabilisation and normalisation of situation in the country," she emphasised and continued that all further steps and changes were achieved in agreement with all stakeholders and after six months, the first results are already bringing optimism back to the country. This year, export increased by 2.3% and unemployment decreased by 7600 people. While adopting all the measures, the Government still managed to maintain the solidarity and welfare state that allows for all social rights to be retained, although on account of this, some other segments have been affected. "We have drafted a realistic budget," pointed out Ms Bratušek and added that this brings the country back to economic stability and that the vote of confidence, which she will link to the adoption of budgets, will also re-establish political stability.
