The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, today attended the 8th Convention of the Automotive Cluster of Slovenia. In her opening speech, she commended the participants for their successful work in the Slovenian automotive cluster, which in her opinion is one of the most efficient clusters in Slovenia.

The Prime Minister highlighted the advantages of the Slovenian automotive industry and emphasised that it represented one of the key industries of the Slovenian economy. "Companies engaged in the automotive industry export the vast majority of their products to foreign countries, their overall exports exceeding 20 per cent of total Slovenian exports. It is on the foreign markets that the signs of economic recovery have started to show and I am convinced that this positive trend will also reflect in the Slovenian economy," Prime Minister Bratušek pointed out.

At the close of her address, Prime Minister Bratušek stressed that the Slovenian Government directed all its efforts towards boosting the economic growth and reviving the economy. "When adopting the measures, we devoted special attention to those Slovenian industries which are export-oriented.  The only tax that we have decided to increase until today is the value-added tax. In doing so, we had in mind, particularly, the exporters that were not affected by the raising of this tax due to the system of settlements," the Prime Minister added.
