Prime Minister attends 50th Security Conference in Munich
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, and the Minister of Defence, Roman Jakič, attended the two-day 50th security conference in Munich. On the first day of the conference, they took part in discussions about cyber security, i.e. the balance between freedom and security, the future of European defence, and Syria and Ukraine as the central topics.
On the margins of the conference, Prime Minister Bratušek had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, and the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović. Their talks focused on the European future of the two countries and on strengthening mutual economic cooperation. Ms Bratušek also attended the reception for the participants of the conference hosted by the Mayor of Munich.
On the second day of the conference, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence took part in discussions focused on the role of Europe in the world, regional stability, energy and climate security, and the situation and future of intelligence services. The Prime Minister stressed that meetings such as the 50th security conference were extremely important for the future of the European security policy and the manner of addressing security issues in the future. In this regard, she referred to the words of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, who said that new ways should be found to face the challenges of the present time.
