The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, today attended the Slovenian-Israeli Day of Science and Innovation, organised by the National Institute of Chemistry with the purpose of developing technological entrepreneurship and improving the recognisability of Slovenian science abroad. In the introductory part of the programme the Prime Minister addressed the participants and attended the lecture of the Israeli Nobel Prize winner, Professor Dr Dan Shechtman. On the margins of the event, she met the Israeli innovation and technology expert and leading manager, Nava Swersky Sofer.

In her introductory address, the Prime Minister highlighted the advantages of such meetings which are, in particular, an opportunity for networking, the exchange of ideas and experiences and for motivating young people. She pointed out that the proverb "Today's youth are the makers of tomorrow's world" has been forgotten in recent years, although we are aware that it is in particular the young people who will shape our future world. "Our children need inspiration and motivation to study, explore and gain new knowledge," said the Prime Minister and thanked the organisers and guests for giving the young today the opportunity for all this.

Prime Minister Bratušek stressed that the central message of today’s event should be "never give up" which was also the life experience of Professor Dr Shechtman. We should not follow old patterns just because it is easy to do so; instead, we should insist on our own goals and convictions, concluded the Slovenian Prime Minister.
