Response to the statistics on economic growth in the final quarter of 2013

Data released today by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia on economic growth in the final quarter of 2013 confirm in line with the EU economic forecast that the Slovenian Government with its measures managed to reverse the negative trend of economic activity. Following eight quarters of economic downturn, Slovenia recorded positive economic growth in the final quarter of 2013 – GDP increased by 2.1% in comparison with the same quarter of 2012. The published results therefore exceeded even the most optimistic Slovenia’s economic activity forecasts. Despite the optimistic statistics, the Slovenian Government remains committed to the planned reforms, as this is the only way to achieve mid-term stable economic growth which would be felt by the citizens as well.
