Prime Minister meets with the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, met with the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, who is on official visit to the Republic of Slovenia. During the talks, the Prime Minister focused mainly on the economic situation in Slovenia and acquainted the Czech President with the measures adopted by the Government to promptly overcome the economic crisis. She stressed that the macroeconomic indicators of Slovenia had improved in the past few months and highlighted unemployment, particularly of young people, as a major problem.

 

Both leaders devoted more attention to the recovery of the banking sector and privatisation. In this respect, the Czech President presented his country's experience with bank privatisation and establishment of a bad bank. They both agreed that a strategic partner with a vision of development and not merely financial investment is of key importance to a company's successful privatisation. The two leaders also touched upon the situation in Ukraine and stressed that solutions should be sought through non-violent means and that the European Union needs to address this issue in a unanimous and concerted manner.
