The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, attended the 24th children’s parliament session. She stressed in her opening address that she was delighted to accept the invitation to participate at it; in her opinion, “it does not happen often that the National Assembly Deputies give away their seats to those who do not rely on political denominations, but on new and good ideas. Let me therefore begin by thanking you for bringing a breath of fresh air and youthful playfulness to the Great Hall of the National Assembly."

The Prime Minister added that adults, who are caught in their own way of thinking, often forget that they can talk about important social issues with young people, too, and said that she was looking forward to the ideas about how to improve the Slovenian society. “Our common concern is to improve the relationships as well as the society,” she stressed.

The Prime Minister explained that, in her opinion, the National Assembly Deputies too often forget that every their word and move is watched by individuals who learn from them. "And if the relationships among the Deputies reflect the relations in the society, my wish is that you – the next generation – would change them. By showing more respect to others, better acceptance of different-minded people, more good will and more optimistic view of the world, you will convince me that my wish can come true," she added.
