Prime Minister strengthens economic cooperation in London

On her working visit to London, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, paid special attention to strengthening the economic cooperation between Slovenia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Slovenian Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, Uroš Čufer, presented to the participants of the Slovenian-English business roundtable the positive results of the measures the Government adopted in the last year and the process of privatisation of Slovenian companies. During her visit, the Prime Minister Bratušek met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, David Cameron, and the management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

 

In her opening address at the Slovenian-English business round table, the Slovenian Prime Minister emphasised that according to the latest macroeconomic indicators and various domestic and international forecasts, Slovenia was "on the right track."  She stressed that economic recovery and completion of the privatisation process were the top priorities of the Slovenian Government. According to Prime Minister Bratušek, Slovenia was looking for long-term strategic partners and the sale of the first companies proved that Slovenia was serious about privatisation. More than 20 representatives of potential investors attended the round table. They congratulated the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance on a job well done and the Government's vision of the economic recovery.

 

The Prime Minister Bratušek received congratulations also from the Prime Minister Cameron.  During their meeting they touched upon the future of the European Union, energy safety and the current situation in Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this context, the two agreed that their countries would continue to provide active support to the reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its progress towards Euro Atlantic integration. The two partners in discussion expressed mutual interest in strengthened economic cooperation between Slovenian and Great Britain, since Great Britain showed great interest to invest in Slovenia.

 

The Prime Minister Bratušek and the Minister of Finance also met with the management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and presented the current economic situation in Slovenia and the process of privatization. The representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development commended the Slovenian Government for all their efforts and measures taken and assured their assistance in the process of privatization.
