The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, met the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. Their talks focused on a donor conference to help the affected areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, which is to be held in July on the initiative of the Slovenian Prime Minister, organized by the Republic of Slovenia in cooperation with the French Republic and the European Commission.

Ms Bratušek and Mr Vučić shared the view that the two countries maintain excellent and friendly relations. The Serbian Prime Minister thanked the Slovenian Prime Minister for the prompt response and help provided by Slovenia during the recent flooding in Serbia. In this context, the two prime ministers signed a letter of intent between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on co-operation in the area of protection against natural and other disasters. At the end of the press conference, the Slovenian Prime Minister pinpointed that the support which Slovenia provided so far was only the first help and the next step would be a donor conference which should be organised as soon as possible to enable people to return to their homes quickly. To this end, it is of crucial importance for Serbia to make an assessment of damage caused by the flooding.

The partners in discussion agreed that although the economic cooperation between the two countries is good, it could nevertheless be further improved. According to Prime Minister Bratušek, Slovenia will further provide assistance and support to Serbia in the process of European integration. Tomorrow, the Prime Minister Bratušek will meet the President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić and visit the flooded Kolubara mining basin near Lazarevac and Obrenovac.
