The State Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Tamara Vonta, today on behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, received the French Minister for European affairs, Thierry Repentin. The talks were held in a friendly atmosphere and the partners agreed that the relations between Slovenia and France are good, especially in the field of culture, education and science, where France is in fact the most important partner of Slovenia. State Secretary Tamara Vonta briefly presented to her French colleague the efforts of the Slovenian Government for a better cooperation between the state administration and the civil society and the mechanisms prepared by the Government to this end. "Our goal is to improve the dissemination of information to Slovenian citizens on the one hand and to enable them to participate with their proposals in the key decisions important for the development of the Slovenian society and state on the other," said State Secretary Vonta and added that our state administration aims at becoming open and transparent.

In their conversation, the counterparts also touched upon the issue of Euro-scepticism which has affected most of the EU member states. The State Secretary stressed that some competent ministries have already prepared numerous solutions that will enable the citizens of Slovenia a facilitated access to the information concerning our coexistence in the European Union, while the French minister added, after the presentation of the mentioned solutions, that these will certainly raise the "Euro-optimism".
