PM at the session of the Government Council for Youth: "We want to enable the young to find employment as fast as possible"

Slovenian Prime Minister,  Alenka Bratušek, attended on 16 October the first session of the Council of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth, which was focused on the programme and legislative agendas in the field of youth and outlined the measures for youth within individual ministries. The participants also touched upon the preparation of implementation plans of the National Youth Programme and determined the role of youth in the 2014-2020 Operational Programme.

 

In her opening address, the Prime Minister stressed that the Government of the Republic of Slovenia strives to enable the young to find employment as soon as possible. In this framework, the Government adopted, among other measures, the exemption of payment of employers' contributions for two years if they permanently employ a young unemployed person. In addition, the Slovenian Government has provided the funds from the European Youth Unemployment Fund, for which nine billion euro will be earmarked in the EU budget for the period 2014-2020.

 

At the first session of the Government Council for Youth the youth representatives and the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia agreed to establish a working group for monitoring the preparation of the implementation plan of the National Youth Programme and the establishment of a working group for monitoring the preparation of 2013 Operational Programme; both working groups will consist of the Government representatives and the youth representatives in the Government Council of Youth.
