The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, attended the 13th conference entitled Excellence of Women in Management at the IEDC-Bled School of Management and, talking to the Executive Director of the Managers' Association of Slovenia, Sonja Šmuc, she presented her experience at the top executive branch of power in the Republic of Slovenia and her vision regarding the role of women in the future. Prime Minister Bratušek also took part in the presentation of "Artemida" awards to eight women who in the past year for the first time took over a leading position in a medium- or large-sized company or a major non-commercial enterprise with more than 50 employees.

In response to the question of how the last year affected her, the Prime Minister replied that she has remained the same, but this was her greatest life school where she has gained valuable experience. She explained that she will always be the first Slovenian female Prime Minister, sincerely hoping that she would not be the last, because "women are at least as much capable as our male counterparts". In this context, Ms Bratušek drew attention to Norway, where "the women's world is completely different", even though 15 years ago they faced similar issues.  "I therefore believe that our time is yet to come", the Prime Minister pointed out and added that she has encouraged more women to enter politics, but unfortunately they do not take this decisive step. Consequently, it is all the more important for women to decide and take a step forward.  In their discussion, the two interlocutors also touched upon macroeconomic indicators, rationalisation of public spending and the addressing of economic and labour market issues.  When asked what inspires her, the Prime Minister pointed her finger at good results supported by concrete figures in which in the past no one believed. "This is the confirmation of good and proper work," the Prime Minister concluded.
