Prime Minister Janez Janša: "Slovenia needs courageous and innovative people."

At today's informal meeting, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, exchanged views on Slovenia's future development with students and university graduates of the best foreign educational institutions, who are holders of scholarships from the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for the Development of Human Resources and Scholarships.

In his opening address, the PM stressed that in order to develop more rapidly, Slovenia needs know-how and knowledge of good practices. "Only in this way are we going to become better, and a model of good practice for others," said Mr Janša, stressing that by being a member of the EU, Slovenia has ample opportunities to learn about good practices elsewhere across Europe, as there should be a good solution to be found in one of the 27 member states.

Making good use of know-how and good practices entails openness in both ways, and the greater the openness, the faster the development. According to the PM, Slovenia needs courageous and innovative people who are aware that while not all knowledge can be found at home, there is only one home where the new know-how can be put to use in practice, adding that a rich society is one with a sense of solidarity.
