Mr Janša and Dr Sega, a former astronaut, who is of Slovenian origin on his father's side, agreed that cooperation between Slovenia and the USA on defence is excellent. The PM stressed the US contribution to the development of the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF), while Dr Sega commended Slovenia for the active and responsible role it plays with a relatively high contribution to the NATO operations, where SAF troops are held in high regard.

The host and his guest also discussed the increasing significance of technology in modern military doctrine and in the world in general. Dr Sega outlined how, through the synergy of science and the development of military and civilian technology, the US military is seeking solutions which exceed military goals. It encourages scientific and technological progress, which help strengthen the security of the modern information society and promote environment-friendly energy resources.
