Slovenian government led by the Prime Minister Janez Janša plays a friendly football match with a team of Slovenes from Argentina

Against the backdrop of a football tournament taking place as part of the 3rd Expat World Championship, the Slovenian government played an exhibition football match against a team of Slovenes from Argentina. By attending the match, the PM Janez Janša expressed his support for the fact that Slovenes living abroad maintain close ties among themselves. The interesting in a friendly atmosphere ended in a 1-1 draw.

Before the start of the match, the PM sent his regards in a live address to Slovenes living in Argentina. In a radio show called Okence v Slovenijo ('A Peek into Slovenia') on Radio Splendid in Argentina, which carries weekly news on the situation in Slovenia, he expressed his support for the idea of people connecting through football. "Sport has brought together our expatriates from far and near and connected them with Slovenia," said the PM.

The Expat World Football Championship project was initiated by expatriate circles and individuals and organisations in Slovenia, and there is hope that it will grow into a nation-wide sporting event.
