Prime Minister Janez Janša: Slovenia has a strong case if a third party is to mediate

Today the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, met the presidents of coalition and opposition parties, the head of the parliamentary group of unaffiliated MPs, and the representative of the Hungarian minority to continue a debate that began one week ago and to exchange views on resolving outstanding issues between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia.

After the meeting, the PM said that Slovenia's political position was largely the same as that reached at a previous meeting. With regard to the border issues on which a consensus had not been reached, the PM believes that Slovenia is ready for the mediation of a third party. "Among others, Slovenia has strong legal arguments," said Mr Janša.

The PM also presented the participants with the rest of the details and future opportunities. "We have also reached a consensus in this respect – not a complete one, but broad enough to allow us to continue certain activities."
