Prime Minister Janez Janša will outline priority tasks of the Slovenian Presidency to members of the European Parliament
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and President of the European Council, Mr Janez Janša, will outline the 6-month EU Council Presidency of the Republic of Slovenia to the members of the European Parliament at its plenary session in Strasbourg on Wednesday, 16 January 2008. The Prime Minister will focus chiefly on the priority tasks set by Slovenia during its Presidency. It is a tradition for the prime minister or head of the presiding Member State to present the priority tasks of its EU Council Presidency at the first plenary session of the European Parliament after the Presidency has been assumed.
In the course of his visit, PM Janša will also be meeting the President of the European Parliament, Mr Hans-Gert Pöttering, the President of the European Commission, Mr José Mauel Barroso and the political group chairmen in the European Parliament.
