On Friday 18 January 2008, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and President of the European Council, Janez Janša, will at the invitation of the President of Cyprus, Mr Tassos Papadopoulos, give an address at the ceremony to celebrate the adoption of the euro in the Republic of Cyprus.

 

This occasion will give the Slovenian Prime Minister, Mr Janša, the opportunity to hold talks with the host, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Tassos Papadopoulos. The Slovenian Prime Minister’s purpose in attending the ceremony is to pursue intensive political dialogue and cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus during Slovenia’s EU Council Presidency. The talks held on this occasion will focus on the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency and on EU policy areas in which the Republic of Cyprus has a special interest.

In addition to Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, the ceremony will also be attended by Slovenian Minister of Finance, Dr Andrej Bajuk.
