Prime Minister Janez Janša congratulates new Slovenian members of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Janez Janša, has congratulated the Bishop, Monsignor Anton Jamnik, the Rector of the University of Maribor, Professor Ivan Rozman, the Associate Professor, Dr Milček Komelj, and Professor Dušan Šuput on becoming members of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts based in Salzburg.

Prime Minister Janez Janša emphasised that the door to this academic institution of great distinction was open only to scientists and artists meeting the highest standards of excellence in the European context. “Today's award is, therefore, first and foremost, a tribute to you and a recognition of your work. It confirms that, with your scientific activities, you have made a mark on not only the Slovenian but also the broader European arena,” he stressed.

Mr Janša observed that welcoming three Slovenes into the membership of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts was a positive message to Slovenian scientists and something of which Slovenia was proud. “I regard it as an incentive to continue efforts to establish a creative environment in which ever more individuals will be able to achieve comparable results,” added the Prime Minister.
