Today, the Prime Minister Janez Janša attended the opening of the international conference Caspian Outlook 2008, organised by the Bled Strategic Forum on 27 and 28 August in Bled. In his opening statement, the PM emphasised that the Caspian region should become an important partner in European energy policy.

Mr Janša said that the Forum was an introduction to Slovenia's presidency of the EU in the first half of 2008, and added that the country had already set itself several priority tasks including energy security and the enlargement of the EU. The PM expressed hope that the participants of the forum, which has been established following his initiative, would be able to produce an outline of these and other future challenges during the course of the two day conference.
