Today, the Prime Minister Janez Janša received a letter of resignation from Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Marija Lukačič. The Minister said she was resigning due to ill health.

 

During the tenure of Marija Lukačič all the key tasks necessary for the smooth implementation of the European Common Agricultural Policy were carried out, and the preparations for Slovenia's EU presidency were going well. The Ministry was one the the most successful government bodies in implementing the the government's core programme.

 

In line with the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the PM will forward the resignation letter to the President of the National Assembly and request that he put it on the agenda of the first session so as to inform MPs. The PM will them nominate a new minister; the incumbent minister will continue to run the ministry until a replacement has been appointed.
