The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Janez Janša, together with the President of the National Assembly France Cukjati, and the President of the Republic Danilo Türk, this evening hosted a post-New Year reception for editors and journalists. Each of the hosts also delivered an address.

The Prime Minister Janez Janša, said he was delighted to see the tradition of receptions hosted by the three presidents being continued, and took stock of the previous - in his opinion, very eventful - year. The Prime Minister identified as one of the highlights of 2007 the involvement of journalists during the September floods when all opinion formers displayed their solidarity and worked with the common purpose of helping the people hit by the natural disaster. “This is one of the reasons why we were successful. And one of the reasons why the people affected by the flooding did not feel that they had been forgotten or that they were alone in their plight,” said the Prime Minister, thanking the journalists for their reporting during that time. For the year that has just begun, the Prime Minister expressed his wish that differing opinions might be expressed freely and that the truth might prevail.

After the official formalities, the reception continued in a pleasant and informal atmosphere.
