Exchanging views on the situation in the Western Balkans, the statesmen agreed that, during Slovenia's Presidency of the European Council, all the countries in the region had taken major steps towards making the European perspective a reality. The two leaders also expressed the hope that the outcome of the Irish referendum on the Lisbon Treaty would not slow down the process of the Western Balkan countries’ accession to the European Union.
